Top 5 Tuesday – Short Babble on Some Longgg Reads

Dear fellow Babblers,

Please allow a special pause, moment of appreciation, kiss-blow, obnoxious holla for our fellow Americans out there… HAPPY 4TH OF JULY! Now, I’m usually not one to go out of my way on holidays – hence I’m sitting at home with the usual – little man, Haruki, iced lemon black tea, with my MAC typing up these very babbles that Señorita Delphine is ever so grateful to entertain you with. However, given all the controversy that has been going on here in the states (lets leave it at that shall we, *ahem, ahem, GET OUT THE WHITE HOUSE TRUMP!* ?), I figured it to be especially important to give a shout out to my fellow Americans out there who have, yes, the corny is coming: “Live the American Dream…”.

4th of july

Say “Bonjour” Señor Lazy Love-Bug, Haruki !

So while you, my dearest fellow book-a-freaks are ringing up customers at the grocery store, pretending to listen to your smelly breath calculus professor train you on the derivatives of the evil tangent line – whatever is keeping you from gravitating from reality into the fiction world – I am here with, no, not more Murakami, at least not yet – on the TBR though (for my full July TBR visit my last post here)! I’ve been so excited about my reading plan for the month that choosing where to start proved to be the hardest part. So what more appropriate an occasion to utilize the good ‘ole ‘Eenie-meenie-minie-mow’? Continue reading “Babble To Señorita Babbler About Whatcha Reading On This Monday”

July TBR | Babblers Gonna Babble Books

Dear fellow Babblers,

June has been a pretty *meh* month for me. I haven’t come across anything truly worth my babbles. After reading The Circle at the beginning of the month I’m pretty sure the rest of my month of reading was tainted by that despicable piece of craftsmanship (you can find a full review of The Circle here). I spent this afternoon finishing up on Dear Mr. M by Herman Koch and will definitely will be posting a review of it soon to share with y’all yet another one of my readerly sufferings. I wasn’t as impressed as I anticipated. The Dinner is a whole lot better. Dear Mr. M is just a bunch of twists and turns between multiple focalizers spanning the course of several years. The disappearance of a high school history teacher is what’s supposed to draw the narratives together but I found the lack of linearity very difficult to keep up with. *sigh*

Get To Know Me Tag:Gal Behind the Babbling – Is She ‘Normal’?

Dear fellow Babblers,

Now listen here. I command for you to wish this gal a big ‘ole “Congratulations”. But not to me – no, no, no – I ain’t that narcissistic – c’mon guys! The congrats goes to my fellow babblers; all y’all who have endured my endless bookish nonsense (if we dare call books printed pages of ‘nonsense’) for the past month. Yes, my blog has turned one month today.

I initially had set out to share with the book community here on wordpress as well as on Goodreads my thoughts on books by providing you guys with reviews and ramblings on shizz pertaining to books from my fears recently graduating from UCLA as a literature major to my meanderings on identity within the blogosphere and we must not forget the actual book reviews ’cause what’s a book blog that does not review books (another discussion in itself – to be posted soon – stay tuned kiddos!) ?

So here we are now, precisely thirty days later: babbler who babbles about books and has a fear of a hopeless future hidden amongst piles and piles of written stories. Is there no more to this psychotic existent ? Preach Delphine! Preach!

We are already halfway through the year, and while I’m sure all of us bibliophiles are fretting over our monthly wrap-ups and spending the next 48 hours choosing the next 20 books (I’ll be lucky if I can shut my mouth long enough to get through at least 10!), I decided as a celebratory post not for me, but for any of you that care who the voice behind the babbling actually is (yes, I do existent, a complete, whole person with mind and body – Descartes may disagree with that statement, but omg Delphine: please shut up and get to the tag part!), I would tag myself in May @ Forever and Everly’s and Vrinda@abookishhuman ‘Get to know me’ Tag.

“I realize now that the reality of things is not something you convey to people but something you make.” – “The Elephant Vanishes”

Dear fellow Babblers,

I’ve been slightly MIA lately with my posts. Sure, I’ve been a reading slumper but that’s not to say that I’ve not been reading at all. I mean 0 ? Come on now – give me some kudos for still managing to read 600 page novels all the while balancing two editorial internships, two creative writing workships, and a pitiful social life that includes me, my local boba shop, and my  “lap” kitty. “Then what reason have you for no reviews Delphine”, challenges no ghost reader in particular. Anyone in the book blogging fam bam would never dare pose such a ridiculous query (can that be considered a synonym for question?). Only a few days left of June 2017 and we are officially (a little more than) half way through the year! What does that mean for a reader and even more so for book bloggers ? We must use flowery and illusory literary language to reflect upon our reading experiences and all the great (and not so great) authors and books we have chosen to read over hitting the beach (I live in L.A. so the beach is kinda sorta a BIG deal). It’s the book bloggers ‘book blogging’ responsibility to read, review, discuss. As a result, so many of us have been participating more than ever in weekly memes and tagging each other in posts and re-blogs such as the Mid Year Freak Tag and Top Ten Tuesday…  Continue reading “Review: The Elephant Vanishes: Stories | A Whimsical Babbling Affair”

Babbles on Throwback Thursday

Dear fellow Babblers,

Happy Friday Eve! At this point in my insubstantial existence the days of the week are becoming less and less important as one 24-hour cycle seems to blur into the next here in my sunny palm-tree infested hometown of West LA (why you gotta be so precise Delphine? No one’s trying to track you down so stop your babble and get to the weekly meme!).

Hear the voice inside my head? A bit aggressive, don’t cha think? That’s what I gotta deal with along with the summer heat and continuous roar of California traffic which all seems to crowd perfectly on Wilshire towards Santa Monica beach… Guess my beach trip is going to be postponed yet another afternoon. So now that I’m yet again sitting at my favorite spot in front of my window, black iced tea infused with lemon by my side I thought ” Why not get some babbling in? ” And what are we book babbling about today, on this crisp, bright Thursday? Top of the hour weekly meme time! Continue reading “Babbles on Throwback Thursday”
